Who We Are

Sharmila Singh, Attorney-At-Law

Sharmila Singh has for 25 years focused on family law, helping clients to successfully navigate the often complex marriage dissolution process.  Sharmila is adept at handling the intricate and emotionally fraught aspects of custody battles and strives to keep the interests of the children front and center. She has extensive experience in all areas of family law, including complex, highly-contested cases involving custody, visitation and support disputes, and high net worth cases.

In assisting her clients, Ms. Singh’s focus is in achieving favorable results without resorting to costly litigation. But when cases do require litigation, she is a skilled advocate for her clients, having successfully tried custody and asset disputes, restraining orders, and international child abduction cases.

Sharmila is skilled in drafting pre- and post-marital agreements and advising clients on maintaining their separate property interests during marriage. She has also handled requests for domestic violence restraining orders as well as applying for and opposing renewals of those orders. She has represented a diverse clientele including professionals in the medical, legal, and entertainment fields.

“Divorce can be an emotional roller coaster. Often, your attorney is the only consistent person you can talk to about your divorce. I strive to be the calm during the storm – to help my clients get through this emotional time as  efficiently as possible so that they can move on and rebuild their lives.”

Having completed 40 hours of mediation training, Sharmila also mediates cases and consults with clients in the mediation process. Since 2013, she has volunteered as a daily settlement officer with the Los Angeles Superior Court where she assists litigants in resolving their family law cases.

Sharmila began her legal career assisting victims of domestic violence as a student attorney in the Women and the Law Clinic at American University. She volunteers with various organizations including Sahara, an organization that assists the South Asian community.

Sharmila was born in Georgetown, Guyana, grew up in New York City, and moved to Los Angeles in 2001. She lives in the suburbs of Los Angeles with her husband and two active baseball-playing sons.
